How To Wake Up Feeling Fresh And Energetic In The Morning
Ask anyone and they will tell you, I’ve always been a morning person. I don’t remember starting out life that way or how it became me but becoming a morning person just grew on me from a young age. Watching sunrises, going to sport, my amazing mother getting us all up and ready for school etc but no one starts out as a morning person lets be honest and with children I have had the choice denied from having my gorgeous kids, if I want to be the girl who “has her shit together” I need a routine to match. I prided myself years ago on being a night owl and staying up into the early dusk hours being creative, but two children and four years on those days seem like a nice dream but thank you and goodbye… I like my sleep and rest and I ENJOY my early mornings as Ive adjusted through the years.
But if there’s one thing that the switch taught me, it’s that there’s nothing like a morning for getting things done. Now, when I wake up, most of the majority of my tasks are completed by midday. However, waking up and feeling ready to go isn’t as simple as it sounds. But there are little tips and ways to make this easier. So, today I’ll share with you what I do to feel more energetic every day that making sure I am present and up ready to conquer. And trust me, if it works for me then its bound to work for you too!
When you wake up feeling exhausted the last thing on your mind is probably going to be exercise. While an extra half an hour in bed may seem like the best solution, exercise will actually help you to feel more awake. Invigorating the body can eliminate tiredness, and the endorphins that are released from physical activity are likely to put you in a better mood.
For example: I will get up and with much effort with children around (if I’m lucky they are still asleep) get my Pilates mat out and have a 35 – 45 minute full body work out but focus on the fact that afterward I feel amazing and motivating myself to do this is like the best reward, I don’t just get a healthy mindset for the day I also make better eating choices and feel more focused. I try throw a 10 minute stretch workout in afterward it feels amazing, relaxing and truly unwinding. If your kids are up, I get my two into it too, my two year old lye’s on the ground and lifts his legs its adorable.
Whether its a group class, morning at home u tube workout or walking/jog outside physical activity just puts you in an amazing frame of mind.
Give it a try lady’s
Are you one of those who claim to not be hungry in the morning? Well, your body definitely wants a bite to eat trust me, it’s important to realize that while you were sleeping your body enters into starvation mode, and while this can lead to you not having much of an appetite for your very important meal of the day breakfast, your body needs it. Remember that food is energy, and your mornings are more likely to be energetic if you have some fuel in you. Think about it, you can’t drive a car without fuel, which means your body won’t be able to function at its best either. (More nutritious meals in my Recipes Section)
Energy doesn’t always come naturally, but caffeine can help to give you the boost you need. Having some shortly after awakening can help to eliminate that morning grogginess, setting you up to face the day.Plus, there’s no better feeling than waking up with your morning brew of choice. This will really ease you into the day and will make sure you’re ready to go!

Does anyone honestly wake up feeling more refreshed after that 7-minute snooze? It’s just a tease, taking you back to that magical sleep you were in only to be pulled back out of it a few minutes later. Turning off the snooze and allowing yourself to wake up straight away not only gives you more time in the morning but will also stop taunting you with the sleep you are no longer allowed to be in. Plus, constantly snoozing your alarm can have some really bad effects on the body and science can back me up with this! And this is something to think about, every time you snooze and your alarm goes off is another time your shock your heart.
We all do it when we wake up, spend at least ten minutes under the covers checking up on all the social media we have missed over night, but the longer you lounge in bed the more you want to stay there. Getting out of bed will stop you from so desperately wanting to stay there, so get up and browse your phone from the kitchen table.
Here are three amazing tips for setting goals that will make you jump out of bed in the morning:
1. Set goals that are motivating. This means you want the goals to be realistic and attainable by a certain deadline. You don’t want a goal that seems so out of reach that it un-motivates you. I’ve been down that road before and it’s no bueno. Set goals that you can achieve within 1-3 months that lead up to the bigger result, that way you won’t get discouraged
2. Write your goals down. Write them down every day if you can, but at a minimum write them down on a weekly basis. Writing down your goals adds a sense of commitment. There was a study that found that people who write down their goals are 42 % more likely to achieve them, so get that pen/pencil to paper and WRITE ON.
3. Do a brain dump of action items that need to be done to achieve each goal. Then plan out each of the action items to see what needs to be done and by what date. You can track these actions in your planner to make sure you are staying on track!
Make goal setting a ritual in your life by carving out time daily, weekly and monthly for goal setting/review. Just like anything else, once you create the habit and get consistent, you will see great results!
Often having no plans can lead to lazing about and not achieving the most out of your morning. Whether you have plans scheduled or not, getting up and doing something can help to relieve you of your tired state. Even if you just go out and get some fresh air, spending your morning do something is key to provide you with the energy you need.
